Rizal sa Dapitan Reflection Paper
Rizal Sa Dapitan is a great
depiction of Rizal’s life as a desterado
in Dapitan. Despite being a prisoner, he enjoyed life because he was able to
things he love such as educating children and training boys the art of Arnis.
Rizal is a gentleman with the way he presented himself to Josephine Bracken.
There is a strange event where a man presented himself as Pablo Mercado and he
claims that he is a relative of Rizal. He turned out to be a spy named
Florencio Namahan.
The film didn’t present the Rizal’s
life 100% accurately because of some changes. The film only showed Rizal’s life
in Dapitan. The events during his last days weren’t filmed. A brief text was
presented about Rizal’s death at the ending of the film.
Rizal never gave up his vision and mission for
the Philippines until he died. Rizal wasn’t just a propagandist. He is also a
humanitarian(evidently because of his voluntary medical work for the poor
people) and a sports person. He likes to practice and perform Eskrima, now
called Arnis.
Rizal wears descent clothes to be
presentable to people especially the European visitors. Rizal has a balanced
lifestyle. He didn’t indulge in liquor or wine, but he spares some money for
the lottery where he won by chance. He
loves the Philippines but he didn’t forget about his personal life. He fell in
love or had a crush on many women but all didn’t end well. But we Filipinos are
very thankful for everything that he did so that we’ll be able to enjoy the
pleasures of freedom and democracy.
